Bad Blogger

Oh my goodness! The last two months have flown by so quickly, I honestly don't know where November and December went! Here is a picture update of what we've been up to the last 2 months...

We got ready for the cooler weather...

Mallory "graduated" from her gym class. They played Olympic themed music and gave them all a medal. It was adorable!

Mallory wore her first ponytail!

She learned how to climb on things...anything and everything!

We had a great Thanksgiving.

We got ready for Christmas.

We attempted to get a usable Christmas card photo. It did not happen this year. Mallory had no interest in looking anywhere close to the camera. This is the best we got. Sorry friends, maybe next year!

She got her first haircut. Or should I say, a tiny snip one one side of her hair that was growing totally uneven. Thanks Aunt Kelly!

I feel like I need two days to sit down and catch up on everyone else's blogs too! My New Year's resolution will be to be a better blogger in '09! :)

Happy Halloween

Here are a few pics from our visit to the pumpkin patch last weekend and from Halloween night.

Mallory is very in to dogs right now. She calls them "Woof-Woofs."

We got to ride a little train. She loved it.

She picked out the perfect pumpkin.

Halloween Night

We went to trunk or treat at our church. We had lots of fun and Mallory loved being a beautiful ballerina!

A question for Moms...

So as I write this post, I can hear Mallory banging her feet against the back of her crib and talking and laughing. She is supposed to be taking her morning nap. We are going on about 45 minutes of this. Could it be that it is time to go to one nap a day?! :( Or should I just be putting her down later in the morning? She has been doing this for a few weeks, but she eventually goes to sleep. When did your kid/kids go to one nap a day?

ps- After I published this post, I noticed that the time stamp on the bottom said 8:49am...it is really 10:49am.

Walking is a dangerous sport!

Poor, sweet Mallory...last week she had her 1st major injury since she started walking. She waddled in the kitchen as I was making dinner and tripped on the baby doll she was carrying. She did a face plant into the bottom side corner of our kitchen island. We are calling her scar face :(. It starts up by her eyebrow and goes all the way down to her to lip.

Here she is about 10 minutes later riding around on Scott's shoulders, happy as can be.

This is what it looked like the next day. It is finally starting to go away. Poor baby.

Park, Pumpkins and a Party

We've had a busy last couple of weeks. Now that Mallory is walking, we are always on the move! Here's what we've been up to lately...

Mallory loves to be outside. We recently went to the park with Lori and Annalee and had lots of fun.

We haven't quite made it to a real pumpkin patch yet, but we got these pumpkins at the grocery store last week. She loves them! She calls them kikis.

Last week we celebrated my mom's birthday. Kelly, Sophie, Mallory, Mom, and I went out to lunch and did some shopping in honor of the big day. Mallory sure loves her Nana!

Mallory loves to play with her cousin, Sophie too.

Gig 'Em

Even thought the Aggies lost, we had fun watching the game on Saturday.

Here's Mallory with her super-mean game face on!

2nd runner up

Lately Mallory has been completely mesmerized by balloons. Many of you have seen this first hand. In fact, at her birthday party, we had to put the balloons outside until after cake and presents so she would not be totally distracted by them. We pretty much have to buy one any time we go to a store that has one (which I didn't realize this, but that's a whole lot of places). I love Central Market and OTB for giving away free balloons! She even tried to take one in the bathtub with her the other night.

In our house, balloon=happy baby

However, yesterday we did discover an unexpected 2nd runner up on Mallory's list of favorite things. Lori and I were taking the girls to an outdoor shopping center and wishing that we had a double stroller so they could ride together and entertain each other. Lori came up with the most genius idea!

They stayed in the wagon the entire time and were laughing and waving to people as we rode by. Needless to say, we were a bit of a spectacle as we paraded around...but they (and we) had a such a fun time. We borrowed the wagon from my sister (thanks Kel) so we brought it home with us. Let's just say we have been on a total of 4 rides in the last 24 hours!

This cooler weather is perfect for some wagon riding!

I love me!

Mallory's pictures came in a few weeks ago and SHE loves them! Every time she see them, she points and smiles. She was just dying to get her hands on the big print. She was so happy when we finally let her see it (don't worry, it was still wrapped in plastic). Is it too early to start worrying about vanity? :)

Let's Party!

Thank you, thank you, thank you...to all of our friends and family for making Saturday such a special day for us! We are truly blessed by your friendship and your generosity. We had so much fun at Mallory's 1st birthday party! Here's some pics from the day...

She decided that Scott and I need a little icing on our faces as well!

The balloons were a big hit (as usual).

After the party, Mallory went swimming with Daddy, Landry, Ellie, and Grandpa.

Happy 1st Birthday Mallory!!

Celebrate!!

Last week was so much fun. We got to celebrate Mallory's birthday pretty much all week. On Tuesday (her actual birthday) Mimi and Pops were in town visiting/escaping the hurricane so we went out for a special birthday lunch and then went to one of Mallory's favorite stores for some shopping. Nana came over Tuesday evening and brought her present to open and then Scott and I took Mallory out for dinner. We went to On the Boarder...for two reasons...one, they have black beans (her fav) and two, they give out balloons (her other fav). We also learned that night that Mallory LOVES chicken quesadillas, who knew? When we got home, she opened a couple of gifts from Mommy and Daddy. All in all, I'd say she had a pretty wonderful 1st birthday!

Here are a few pics from the day...

The neon green string belongs to her OTB balloon that she refused to let go of. She really wanted to take it in the bath tub with her.

Stay tuned for the party post and a birthday montage!

Happy Birthday!

Exactly one year ago today, we were at the hospital about to meet our precious little Mallory Kate. What a special day that was. I began my labor at about 2 am and around 8 am we headed for the hospital. Mallory was born at 5:24 pm. We had no idea how much she would change our lives. We feel so blessed to have such a healthy, beautiful, 1 year old little girl!

All about Mallory at 1 year

Teeth- 6 (and #7 coming through any day)

"Words" she can say- no-no, all done, mama, dada, uh (the beginning of uh oh)

"Words" she will sometimes say- nana, lo (hello), bye bye, yum

Favorite Toys- balloons, pushing her walk-behind cart, baby dolls, her stuffed lion, and her puppy snuggle blanket

Transportation- still crawling, but she is able to stand by herself...just not brave enough to take a step yet

Favorite Foods-grapes, black beans, bananas, yogurt, and she will beg for a taste of anything sweet (just like her mom :)

She Loves... swimming, taking a bath, listening to Daddy read her a bed time story, anything musical, playing chase, and playing with her sweet friends

For Mallory...

Happy 1st birthday our sweet little girl! Although it has only been a year, we can't imagine what our life was like without you. You bring us such great joy each and everyday. We are so thankful to be your parents and we could not ask for a more amazing daughter!

We love you always and forever,

Mommy and Daddy

1st Photo Shoot

Even though we still have about a month until the big day, Mallory had her 1 year pictures made today. My mom and I loaded up Mallory and her wardrobe at 7:00 am this morning and headed out to the botanical gardens. We met our photographer, Melissa Zihlman (http://www.melissazihlman.com/), and she went to work. Melissa was so patient with her. Mallory spent most of the session pointing at trees, watching squirrels and looking at the ground. None the less, she got some nice shots. I can't wait to see all of the photos. Melissa posted a little "sneak peek" for us on her blog (http://melissazihlman.com/Blog/). The rest of the pics will be available for viewing from her website in about week!

Poor Zoey

Those of you who have met our dog Zoey, know that she is not the most social dog. She is more like a cat (sleeps under beds, goes and gets in her bed at 8:00, likes to be by herself). However the last few days, for some reason she has been hanging out in the living room where Mallory and I are playing. Mallory has now decided that she LOVES Zoey and heads straight for her any time she sees her. Zoey is now her favorite thing to pull up on. Maybe she will teach Mallory how to walk. Poor Zoey, what a good sport!

Those of you wondering about Ike...he runs the other way as soon as she gets near him. Here's a picture of the days when Ike liked Mallory (before she was crawling).
